Description
The trail is dotted with information boards that recount some of the dramatic episodes in a geological history spanning nearly 600 million years.
Please note: the trail has a new name: “Le Mémoire de la Terre” (formerly “Histoires Géologiques”).
Please note: the direction of the trail has been reversed. From the church, head towards the Domaine du Gasseau and you will end up at Mont Narbonne.
The Saint-Léonard-des-Bois site allows us to trace 600 million years of history that have formed the rocks and shaped the landscape. Two loops, which can be walked in succession or separately, form a 10-kilometre circuit that will take you back through time. As you follow the stony paths of Saint-Léonard-des-Bois, you’ll climb the peaks of the Alpes
Mancelles and discover some dramatic episodes from a geological history spanning nearly 600 million years.
Please note that this route takes you through sensitive and protected natural areas (a listed site and a Natura 2000 site). Please stay on the paths and keep your dogs on a lead.
