170 ans de l'Orchestre d'Harmonie des Alpes Mancelles

The Orchestre d'Harmonie des Alpes Mancelles (OHAM), directed since 1993 by Laurent Rameau-Beunache, will be celebrating its 170th anniversary over a festive weekend. To mark the occasion, the town will be welcoming musicians from the Concertband de Leuven (Belgium), who will be joining the local band. This Fresno-based musical association has 49 musicians aged between 10 and 85. This dynamic intergenerational orchestra is renowned for its musical quality and its commitment to local life. This anniversary weekend is all about conviviality. The Belgian musicians will be staying with the families of the French musicians. The association will also be offering them a guided tour of the town to discover its heritage. This is a major event for the association, which has received support from the town council via the Trophée de la vie associative scheme. The musical programme has been carefully chosen to highlight the history and heritage of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe. You'll find references to the Cave du Lion, Les Tisserands and a tribute to Georges Durand, one of the founders of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. All these musicians are looking forward to two performances. The first will take place on Saturday 16 May at 8pm at Chapiteau Mimulus in Fresnay-sur-Sarthe. The second will take place on Sunday 17 May at 11am at the Domaine du Gasseau in Saint-Léonard-des-Bois for an open-air concert (weather permitting). All tickets are free, with a contribution by the hatful to support the association and the work of the musicians.
