La Cabane de Saint-Fiacre et son Jardin d'Éole

La Cabane de Saint-Fiacre and its Jardin d’Éole: one couple, two passions: the world of a garden, with its perennials, flowers and insects, trees and birds; and the realm of a collector of antique gardening tools dating from the 17th to the mid-20th century. Here you’ll discover the ‘pagoscope’ (a frost detector from 1914), an 18th-century terracotta watering can, 19th-century flower-picking tools, the ‘crow’s beak’ seed drill, as well as numerous other tools connected to the land and plants, alongside old documents relating to horticulture and grain merchants from a bygone era. From the botanist’s trowel to the invention of the pruning shears, via the gardener’s compass, you’ll discover the ingenuity of our ancestors in making the work less physically demanding and turning it into the most wonderful profession in the world! These antique tools, which reflect this couple’s passion, were the subject of a 2022 documentary on Arte entitled ‘Le Trésor du jardinier’ (The Gardener’s Treasure), as well as numerous exhibitions at plant and heritage festivals. Two exhibition rooms displaying antique gardening tools and a tour of the garden (LPO Nature Reserve). Exhibitions of antique horticultural tools available on request. Open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10.00 to 18.00 and on Sundays from 14.00 to 18.00 on the first and third weekends of each month from May to October.
