Graff sur Paname" exhibition at the Centre d'Arts Plastiques et Contemporains du Prieuré de Vivoin.
The Prieuré de Vivoin, a Gothic jewel north of Le Mans, is hosting a unique exhibition from 17 May 2025. Entitled "Graff sur Paname!", the exhibition will showcase a personal collection of more than 100 maps of the Paris metro, the backdrop for many urban artists whose usual practice is to intervene, not always legally, in the streets and corridors of the metro.
This exhibition presents a selection of original works by some of the most representative artists of contemporary urban art on the international scene. These maps of the metro, emblematic of the Parisian transport system, become surfaces for expressing their art in situ, in a mise en abime of their urban practice.
Come and discover how these maps, which in the past were simply used to direct Metro users, are being reinterpreted and hijacked by artists who are leaving their urban mark on them, giving rise to striking and sometimes engaging works of art. This exhibition is an invitation to explore freedom of expression in the public space, and to celebrate the dialogue between graffiti and the street, art and architecture.
Open Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 6pm. Otherwise weekdays by appointment for groups.
