This Sensitive Natural Area protected by the Sarthe department will delight young and old alike, with nature and animals to discover. This site offers a fantastic view on the Sarthe river and the Petite Cité de Caractère of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe.

Flamboyant insects of wetlands known to all, dragonflies nevertheless remain intriguing. The Dragonfly Trail, which runs along the banks of the Sarthe river, will introduce young and old alike to the secret world of the river and offer a glimpse of the life that inhabits aquatic environments.

5.2km – Difficulty: easy – Hiking loops along the Voie Verte

The Chérancé / Les Mées greeway follows the old railway line. Over 5 km of the route, which extends from Les Mées to Mamers, are ideal for hiking. Over 17 km are therefore available for walkers to discover the beautiful surrounding countryside.

"Histoires géologiques" trailIn Saint-Léonard-des-Bois

About 10 km – Steeply sloping circuit – Duration: approx. 3h

Two loops to be walked successively or independently forming a 10-kilometer trail that will take you back up the ladder of time. Following the pebbles of the Saint-Léonard-des-Bois paths, you’ll climb the peaks of the Alpes Mancelles and discover a few eventful episodes in a geological history spanning nearly 600 million years.
